Frequently Asked Questions

  • Is there a demo/evaluation version of WebYep?

As it’s very important to us that you can easily test the full feature set of WebYep, you can download and run the full version of WebYep without a license key! Until a valid license key is entered, you will only see a popup window (with a demo notice) when accessing the website that uses WebYep. Besides that, the "demo" mode has no restrictions and offers the full feature set.

  • Which type of content can be made editable with WebYep?
    • Texts (incl. simple formatting like bold and links)
    • Images (image files in some web format like GIF or JPEG)
    • Menus (like product menus - you can add, change and remove menu items)
  • Which web browsers can be used to edit content?
    • Microsoft Internet Explorer version 6 and higher on Windows.
    • Firefox version 2 and higher on Mac OS X and Windows.
    • Safari Version 3.2 and higher on Mac OS X.
    • Opera version 9.24 and higher on Mac OS X and Windows.
  • Does WebYep need a database like MySQL?

No. WebYep stores its data in the filesystem of the webserver (where also the HTML and image files of your website are stored).

  • Which Dreamweaver version is needed for the WebYep Dreamweaver Extension?

Dreamweaver CS3 or CS4 (Mac OS X or Windows)

  • I have moved my website, now the WebYep content is gone!

Whenever you rename a page or move it to another folder, the link between the page and its WebYep data is lost, as WebYep can only identify a page by its URL (filename and path).

But you can re-link the page to its data:
Open the file webyep-system/data/documents - a text file, containing pairs of paths and document IDs. Locate the file in question and correct its file or folder name. Then WebYep will find the document’s data again.
